I have a few Questions about Terminators

Seems like most of the ones around here put down around 375rwh stock and the full bolt on ones around 450ish. That is very impressive. One question I have is how come I dont see many heads/cam termis? Everyone I have seen has stock internals. Are they really that good from the factory? What makes the engine itself better than the ls1? Or is it really a matter of opinion?

    Thanks

390 hp is pretty low for that car.

im not sure if ford under-rated the power of the cobras, but i know one thing, they willl murder a stock ls1...no questions. this is the one mustang that id like to own.

Problem is not many are stock. It takes very little coin to get these cars into much higher HP/TQ numbers.

I know they respond great to bolt ons. What about heads and cam?

When both the ls1 and termi are maxed out which one would make more power I guess is my question. Displacement vs boost

I do believe the internals are forged right out of the gate - that's a pretty big advantage, especially for boost.

to answer your question ...the heads are 4v so they already flow good numbers ..so the need for reworked heads arent that big of a deal ...could a modded term see gains..you bet your ass it would ...but cost comes into play...besides that..as the car cam stock with F/I its cam profile will favor boost ...so again cost over gain...the biggest being cost ...there is power to be had with a h/c but for most why not spend that money on bolt ons or a good chuck of a KB and watch the power skyrocket ....i believe the h/c is for those going all out.

hell, a pully change and a tune would make a decent increase as well.

exactly ...so as long as you can spend a few hundred to keep pushing the stock profiles limit and getting good numbers..why spend thousands more for a cam.

Kinda off subject a little, but...

I am not up to speed on the Cobra motors, but I know one of my best friends is running upwards of 20 lbs of boost using a 3.4L Whipple S/C on his stock 4.6 L Modular DOHC V8 in his '04 Mercury Marauder. He has had it at the track and made passes into the 10's and that is one heavy car. He DYNO'd 831rwhp and 780rwtq if I remember right.

There is no comparison really, power adder cars are in their own playing field.

They are not forced to work with the 14.7 atmoshere nature provides, which makes any engine with forced induction think it's much bigger than it really is.

I really wanted to buy a termi and test drove a couple of them and driving my friends for a day really put me off. The clutch is extremely stiff, sitting position was terrible and had to reach forward to get to the shifter and just couldnt picture myself doing this as a DD car. When i threw it into a corner the rear end didnt communicate well and the car just felt heavy to me. Is it a great car for the money and especially the amount of power you can get out of it, no doubt. In the end i bought another camaro and never looked back, its just preference.

So what does a full bolt on, heads/cammed termi dyno?

    Highest E/I/C/H LS1 I have seen was 488 I believe.
