I think 4th gens look much better. There isn't enough visual difference between the new SS's and the v6 cars... They both look really plain to me. I think GM could have done a little more for the SS, but thats just my opinion. I would still love to have one, but just not for that price tag. Nice kill by the way. I was planning of racing this kid at my school who got a new SS about 5 months ago, but he already wrecked it

The 1ss is kinda the no options camaro if you dont add any options to it. Its still not that much lighter. Its a good size car with new safty equipment, IRS, and a more sound proof chassis. They didnt want this camaro to have all the cheap/loose/rattling/rough ride that the 4th gens did. I know it sucks that it equates to more weight but they wanted this 5th gen to sell unlike the 4th gens did. I still dont see as many around as i do 2010 stangs so im assuming its still not selling well.

just a little update. the kid next door bought a v6. ? maybe insurance,? I dont get it. I think for the price, youd be happier with an 02 Camaro SS. Put that extra 300 a month in insurance and a higher payment and have someone else do the work for you. Seriously, though, some one has got to come up with a kit to fix and replace our entire interior with an update minus rattles.

the auto+L99 setup on the camaro is just a marketing scheme. next year, the auto will more than likely be availiable with the ls3, and the ls3 will have more power to boot. thusly, more hype, more sales.

the past can tell us much about the future. with ford's stepping up in thier overall lineup this year GM will not just stand by,
inb4 pointless argument.

absolutely right! i hope the v8s in the camaro, mustang, and challenger do not go away like the big blocks did in the early 70s.right now we could not imagine the v6 engines being the top engine in a camaro, mustang,or challenger but think about the CAFE standards automakers will have to meet in the next few years, they sure as hell are not going to stop building v8 trucks and with the 300+ horsepower and 30+ mpg the current v6 engines deliver,i'm thinking it's just a matter of time before the v8 musclecar is a thing of the past just like the big block 427 camaro, boss 429 mustang, and 426 hemi challenger. scary to think about but the hyundai genesis coupe might be the benchmark for upcoming camaro, mustang, and challenger models...turbo 4 base engine and 300+ hp v6 as the top engine,gm has the turbo ecotec from the cobalt ss,solstice gxp..ford has built turbo 4s since the 80s would not be first time a mustang had a turbo 4 (SVO mustang) and chrysler has the turbo 4 from the srt neon. just some food for thought.

It's gonna happen tho. From what I saw it looks like the new sho is just a tune away from dipping into the 12's.

amazing what they can do with v6s these days.back in 96 the new cobra mustang was 'da man with a 305 hp dohc 4.6l v8,now the base mustang engine (v6) is more powerful than that.

I remember it being heard that our f bodys were the LAST muscle cars to leave Detroit. Yeah, right.Look at what they are doing with electric engines in the 1/4. Its only going to get worse. Hot rodders are on the forefront. Pushing the envelope, coming up with innovative ideas.
