Ahh Id love to find out more on this car. Im a former LS1 guy, and probably will wind up having another LS powered vehicle eventually.
I came across this thread while aimlessly googling "LS1 crossfire"
Its something Ive had in mind for sometime.
And me being a former owner of a LS1 powered RX7, I could only imagine how much fun a LS1 powered crossfire could be...
I wonder if Brian Hinson would be interested in taking on this venture.. the vehicles are dropping in price significantly, and are pricey to maintain...
I am not complaining, just stating a fact.

more info
ok, here's some info:
i found the black crossfire
found him again at the observatory!
got to check it out close and personal.
1st of all, no sound clips and no video. he asked that I not do it and I gotta respect those wishes. He says he's working on it for a cross country run.
anyway, i could have taped everything with the phone but respect is respect!
side note, he says he knows other guys that have done a ls6 swap and a jag supercharged 4.0 [?] swap. fast company!
6.1L hemi out of a magnum
comp cam [very quite idle, very little if any lope]
90mm t body
auto trans
18" front, 20's rear
3.07 rear
now for the good stuff. i was asked if i was stalking him [lol].
we chatted a bit and he offered to take me for a spin.
ok, i know i don't have many mods listed. but after owning my baby since 99, i've added enough toys to pull about 450. [last dyno was years ago]
this car is insane.
he says from a standing start, a moped could take him. just smokes the tires.
lots of problems with this much power [he says after the cam, t body and tuning it pulls about 475] i think he was mis-informing me.
this thing was like a rocket. the roads in the area are quite twisty but in the areas where he could, i got to experience the feeling that i was trying for in my t/a. very good cornering and very smooth
hoping to meet up again and maybe get some photos.
this car pulls extremely hard and sudden. [i was in a friends z06 and it didn't compare to the feeling i got while watching the speedo climb]
after about an hour of fun i wanted to see how i'd do against him from a 40 mph rolling start.
well....
did i say rocket? he left me in a fog of tire smoke and was gone.
it seems the faster i went the further away he got.
how much for this much fun?
he says the work was done over about a 6 month time frame and he did most of the install himself.
says he has less than 20k into the swap.

the LS1 FD was fast.
the engine was out of a 2001 C5, i bought the entire drive tran out of a wrecked car, through a company in PA i think.
I put the engine in to a 94 rx7, pulled the power steering & a/c
had some basic bolt ons..
I never got it on the track, I wound up selling the car about 3 months after I got it running, and wasnt even 100% complete when I sold.. Still regret selling it, but due to being in college at the time, having a 110 pound dog, and not being able to justify having 2 vehicles while being in college, I had to make that sacrifice.
I had a friend who said his SS was running 12's w drag radials, spray and a few bolt ons raced and it wasnt close
and speaking of tires, i was running mismatched tires on the car, one was filled with fix a flat... not my brightest of moves looking back on it.lol
If I had to guess, Id say it was a low 12 second car with the few things i had done to it. I sold the car 6 or 7 years ago.
id love to have one a again.. Thats why I think this LS powered crossfire is a great idea!!
Or maybe the 6.1.. you can keep the jag 4.0 swap lol
