    Killed a Honda...

I come up to a light and notice that the Honda next to me (don't know what kind and yes, it has a fart can) has long wheel studs on the drive axle (FWD FTL!). I get the kid (to me anybody under 30 is a kid but this guy looks 18 - maybe) to roll down his window and ask him about it. He says he bought it that way. We both turn back to the light.

He blips the throttle. I reach over and turn off the ASR. I fel like a cat that just spied a moving string. He hits it when the light turns green. I slip the clutch, smoke em thru 1st gear and hit 2nd with a satisfying screech, look in the mirror and notice he's a car back (this is just thru the intersection). He lets out and so do I. He turned left at the next street.

My daily driver 98 Z28 M6 is stone stock, has 180,xxx+ miles on it and it still runs like a scalded dog, much to that kids chagrin...

You need long wheel studs to run slicks. They have to protrude beyond the lug nut 1 (1.5?) stud diameter to be NHRA legal.

oh ok....never knew that... so you need open ended lug nuts that can go down that far? cant use acorn style.

No acorn style lug nuts with slicks. Gotta be open ended and stud has to be out past the end of the nut ~1-1.5 thread diameters.

That's how you can tell if somebody runs "slicked down" at the track (legally).

I know, but it's like it's hard wired in my brain, hence the reference to a cat spying a moving string. Doesn't matter how old the cat is it's gonna give chase...

I don't know, saying you beat a Honda is like a grown man bragging about how he beat up a 12 year old. There is something alittle sad about it, on top of that-its no challenge at all. I encounter these cars all the time at the track, and I can say racing those cars are like swatting flies. There are some fast ones, but they are rare...
