Used car prices suck right now. I get the same story everywere I go, oh the cash for clunkers took away all the good older used cars. Bull shit. So they are jacking the prices up on anything that is 10 years old or newer, and feeding this horse shit about the prices of the cars being affected by cash for clunkers. The truth: No one is spending money or going into debt for a new car because jobs are tight and cash is tight so most are buying used if anything. Truth is alot of people out there are not paying thier mortgages, or car loans and saving the money for the 9 to 15 months it takes to forclose or the 4 to 5 months to repo the car so they can buy a newer used car cash and rent a house while they get thier finances on track again. Prices suck right now and will for a while but the LT1 cars are cheaper because all of them are over 10 years old, and they have higher repair costs if they have some milage on them. Anything that is in good condition is going to fetch a good price unless someone just wants to sell it for less wich happens almost never in the US anymore.

Friend of mine had a few headaches with his LT1 camaro but Ive had just as many with my LS1 camaro.. and yea it's easy to get them to go fast my biggest problem was breaking stuff.. rear ends, transmissions.. but it's all part of it. Im actually trying to sell my 99 z28 right now but nobody has called. haha oh well I'll keep it if I can get what I want.

LS2 GTOs run low 13s on average, an occassional few running very high 12s stock, at 105-108mph.

C5s have run quicker than that, with the quickest C5 ZO6s running high 11s, stock. Most C5s run low 13s, although many run in the 12s.

SRT4s may be somewhat quick with mods, but it's still a damn neon.

each motor has its advantages and dissadvantages. For instance, obviously LS1 cars are going to be more expensive cause they are newer, and in comparison to an Lt1, they are a bit more expensive to mod because LT1's are still just your average small block 350 so most 350 parts will fit one. On the other hand, mod for mod, LS1'S will usually gain more than an Lt1, plus they start with a decent amount more power.

I'm not sure if I'm actually answering your question, but I have no desire to buy a new Camaro. Nice car, lots of upgrades (cosmetic) over the previous generations, but I prefer the looks of my '99 Z28 (with SS hood and spoiler). I also prefer the lighter weight, hundreds of pounds lighter. The same would apply for the LT1 cars as well.

I still think the LS1 is the best bang-for-the-buck engine out there. LT1's seem to be able to put out great power too, but the opti-spark and reverse-flow cooling seem to be inherent weaknesses. My plan is to cease any more tweaks (engine) to my current one, and save for a Texas Speed 408 to replace it. Built for a 150+ shot, headers, the whole works. Then upgrade the drivetrain for durability, and tweak the suspension. I figure for $10K or so, I can have a car just as reliable as a new one (maybe more so), and have better performance too. When the supercharged versions hit the street in Z28 form, maybe I'll think differently, but for now I think the new Camaros need to go on a diet.

Id go for an ls1. All you really need to run with a 10 SS is exhaust and lid. Ive done it. 12.8 at 109
