Mustang gt's??
Hey guys,
I'm really curious about the mustang gt's from like 99-04 are they any good at all?? I know they don't make a lot of power stock they make like 260hp right?? Just would like to know do they have the potential to be pretty fast for relatively cheap like the LS1's have or are they a different story... Need some info on these cars guys thanks

i had a 2000 gt, put a novi 2000 blower on it running 8lbs and made about 400-something hp to the wheels .. can't hold much more than that to the stock block without building the bottom end though. I liked my car, but I feel like I get more power for my $ with the LS1.

Pretty sure they don't have the potential of the LS1, at least in N/A form, and dollar for dollar, a LS1 is cheaper to go fast.
I think heads and cams are much more expensive for the 4.6, plus you have to buy 2 or 4 of them. And like the saying goes, there's no replacement for displacement! |

The modulars and especially 2v aren't a good platform for an na setup. You can either have a cammed ls1 or a s/c gt that will both make around 400rhwp, just a matter of preference. My first shotblock I just installed forged pistons and rods(probe) and made alittle over 500 with nitrous.

I've been a fan of the mach 1's. Truth be told I don't believe they are much more than the gt's. Plus you get so much more potential out of the motor.

< Previously owned a Vortech S/C'd 2000 GT
somewhere between 8-10 psi, it made 360 RWHP with an MPH (the BEST in the Southeast) dyno tune They're fun and can be had inexpensively, but are expensive to mod. $4k for a new blower, etc. GT = 2V SOHC so 2 cams Mach 1 or Cobra = 4V DOHC so 4 cams N/A they're a complete joke and a waste of time. Giggle gas or Forced Induction and they'll scoot, although anything above 400RWHP on a stock block puts you on borrowed time. My next "fun" car will be a C5, although I loved the styling of my Mustang moreso than any Camaro, Firebird, etc. |

Only nice thing about the GT's is you get the Iron block. rods, pistons, forged crankshaft and you could add a little boost to it and it will be a fun DD.
I too always believed mustangs sounded better. Then I heard one with open headers. |

Nah it was a gt with a saleen body kit and a novi 2000 blower. I got sponsored by saleen with a free body kit, cerviini gave me my hood, and paxton gave me the entire 6k setup for 1k... Its cuz I have bewbies LOLz.
Was nice for what it was, but I was at the point where i'd have to spend major money to get it where i wanted to go (high 10s/low 11s) .. |
