Heads only for now
This thread is me just shooting in the dark guys so don't flame me to hard. I picked up some worked 5.3's specs are 2.02/1.60, 58cc, 306cfm at .600 lift. For the mean time it looks like my car is going to be heads only unless I pull off a miracle, but heads alone should be a fun sleeper for awhile. Now my car is an auto full bolt-ons and the cam I choose is so I can keep a stock stall. So this will be a real sleeper, I will be making what most you guys make w/ cam only. I have talked to the few who have gone the same route, one w/ a 220/220 114lsa "drives like stock" even talked to one who has a 224/228 114 (but I am not that bold) Just saw a 226 116lsa. I always like the 226 just rarely see aftermarket that big running a 116lsa. The key is keeping the rpm's to 600 so I don't fight the cam at lights. Just got back from the races and have some insomnia lets see what you guys have to say.

Heads only is fairly common. Not for everyone, it really makes sense to change that out when you have the heads off. But I understand money may be tight. I did heads only in my TA. Basic run down on that was... 6.0 liter, 5.3 ported heads milled .030", Full exhaust, and a LS1 INTAKE.... netted the car 373 RWHP and 409 RWTQ. That was with a crap LS1 intake. After the FAST 92/92 install im sure it was very close to 400 RWHP. It was/yours will be, a TQ monster down low. Very fun to drive. But you will not have a top end. Just wont, that was my number one complaint and reasoning behind getting my cam. Good luck, it will still be a fun car.... and should make good power.

Well at first I was satisfied w/ heads only, then the heads came w/ dual springs, so like any little boy I get gready. Another large factor is the old man is taking his girl to vegas at the end of this month, so I wanted to do it while he was gone and would never have to know."My car money, just don't need another you should not have sold your honda talks"
and thanks for your mod and dyno #'s gives me a nice ballpark estimate-more than enough for 12's

Red+Black- 1993 Camaro Z28
I would check out Lloyd Elliott if i were you. He makes some pretty sweet products for a good price. It would be a nice place to get your heads ported to above average standards for below average cash.

on a stock stall yes, if I put in my tci 3600 then I would have done a cam swap instead and went 230/230 or somewhere close from dr.crash. I'm not doing stall because I don't need the extra stress and heat on the rear and tranny (still bought a cooler). Sorry guys no stall that's the way it is.
