Ever drive a VQ with a manual trans?? They are rough as hell in the midrange to higher RPM's, the engine isn't balanced. Every review I've ever read of a 350/370Z G35/G37 has said the same thing. The vibrations make it seem like the motor is going to come apart.
I'm not impressed by Nissan's 3.7 because it has no advantages. It sounds like crap, has a narrow powerband, and its very rough. Plus it doesn't get any better fuel economy than an LS engine, despite the fact that its much smaller.
GM's new 3.6 DI is a very smooth engine, and it gets 30MPG highway. So it actually serves a purpose in the lineup.

Motor Trend tested them at : "0 to 60 In 4.7 sec. and the Quarter Mile in 13.3 sec. at 105.7 MPH" ... I can think of very few naturally aspirated V6 cars to pull those kind of numbers. (and is actually on par with most LS1 drivers)
I don't doubt any of your statments about the cars fuel economy or harshness of driving. The only one I'm putting some doubt on is the statement the engine is "worthless".. Fuel economy is kinda subjective in this category. I'm sure the manufacter wasn't predisposed to really tweak that to the max in this little two seat roadster.
I would like to state however that I am not a Nissan fanboy and would not like to own the car. I think they are sporty looking and perform decently. However, I think the engine deserves a little bit of respect.
Although wesman, I have read many reviews and have seen where the car is critisized(or however that's spelled) for it's high RPM harshness.Last edited by fox1x; 03-30-2009 at 04:21 PM.
