Sad day, My Caddy is SICK

February, friday the 13 was a bad day. I broke a valve spring on the #1 intake valve and she let go from there. Head of the valve broke off and dented the piston a little and damaged the head. Dealer wants $6K to make it right....SUCKS!!

Actually its $5750 for complete new engine, intake to oil pan + $1800 to pull & reinstall + tax & I get to keep broken motor for another project or $4K to rebuild much better + $2500 for pull & reinstall. Either way It suck when you don't have the cash and the car is still financed. How did you get a 100K warranty. V's don't have them. New motor would get 24mo 36K mile warranty.

if you pull it your self you could git the block and piston do for about 1000 with all new rings and any machien work done. then go and get a set of custom heads and reinstall your self with a custom tune all for i would say about $4500 for all of it.

100K warranty on my 07.... Don't know but that was in the contract when I bought it. So if something does go wrong and they try to say no warranty I pull out the bill of sales from dealer and be like, well either you fix or I take you to court.... I got proof saying that this car VIN # XYZ has a 100K mile drivetrain warranty think the court would rule in my favor

nah...not in this case. The motor is priced right and the labor is about 18 hours x $100/hour. Its a pretty standard straight foreward estimate.

Hey 04CTSV, have you tried to locate a used engine? might help you get the price down. Apparently Mitchell's Used Auto Parts in Conyers, GA has one.

Actually my dealership shop rate is $95/hour.

Those prices are BS, you can throw in a new stroker motor for that price.

Those are the prices as I researched them myself and got engine price from GMPP website, Haven't seen a stroker for anywhere near that. Anyway I've decided to pull it and rebuild it myself with ..060 over and CNC ported LS6 heads and bigger cam, full precision balance

If you need informational help with pulling the motor, I can help. I've pull several V6s out of those CTS's. They come out the bottom with the trans, radiator, ac condensor, and the fuel and brake lines all the way back to the RR wheel area attached. And its a pain in the ass the first few times.

yeah damn...IDK maybe you could get it out the top. Otherwise they'd have to take it out the bottom, take it off the engine cradle, and then reinstall the engine cradle/suspension so you can roll it away.

Not familiar with the Caddy's, can you pull the motor up from under the hood? Or do you have to drop it from underneath the car like in the fbody?
