    Sooooo Many Numbers...

OK. Upon purchasing my GTO last Feb, I became curious to find out what bulbs would look nice. My last car had SilverStars in the fogs and PIAAs in the lows. Well, I did the same thing with the Goat. I have PIAA H11 XTreme White bulbs in the lows, BUT I had yellowed foglight bulbs. I went to the NYIAS last year and bought a set of cheap bulbs for the fogs. BUT here is the kicker. The book had a cross-reference table. So, for 9040, there are various bulbs which are compatible. I bought a set of H10s and the only thing I had to do was trim a little piece of plastic on one of the tabs and the went right in and worked like a charm. Here are some numbers:

    9040-OEM
    9145
    H10
    9005

I know there will be some flaming, but, I figured I would do my part for the fellow GTO owners here. Also, for the few like me, the AutoZone and Strauss near me don't stock the 9040s that much.

Before anyone does this, my advice is to take the stock 9040 and hold the H-10, 9145, 9005 to eyeball the small amount of plastic to trim.

One of the H-10 fogs burned out(I use the fogs alot at dusk) so I now have 9145 SilverStar bulbs in the fogs. Gotta get used to the purplish halo, but they look cool nonetheless.

hey man thanks for the numbers....i love the white or even a tad blue tint to lights, but hate it when you have two or three different shades going on at the same time on the same car

you have to be careful with heat if you start swapping those out. Stock wattage is 40 the 9145 and H10 are 45 and the 9005 is 65 I believe. I personally wouldn't run that 9005. You could probably get away with it but the chance of you hazing the lights is a lot greater.

Note to self...IXNAY ON TEH 9005. Thanx Orion. I'll stick with the H-10/9145.

BUUUUUT...I took the Goat on the road last night to go to dinner with the folks for their anniversary dinner. The 45 watts did their job. Looks like I have a "W" shaped light pattern on the road from the fogs. Now the GTO has a lavenderish hue from the lows and fogs. When it gets warmer I gotta break out the Mothers plastic polish to clean the lenses. They are FILTHY!!!

The only bulbs I'm interested in showing off are my tail lights. They're red, and when you see them lit up, you just lost.
