    LS1 to 6.0L engine swap

    The car.... 2K WS6 LS1 M6
    Swapping LS1 for..... 2001+ LQ4/LQ9
I am wondering about the wiring harness. Will I need the wiring harness off of the 6.0L block or am I going to need an aftermarket one like "painless" if I am going to be puting a turbo and nitrous on it?

The injectors are different on the 6.0s but your probably gonna use your factory intake so that wont be a problem. Other than maybe having to swap out a sensor or two from the original motor, you will have to drill and tap 1 of the alternator bolt holes, but that is easy to do. To answer your question I wouldnt mess with an aftermarket harness, I would just use your factory harness thats already in your car.

Just use your factory harness. Yep, you will have to drill and tap a hole for the alt.

    Will swap fine. I have a 2005 LQ4.

thank you everyone that is a relief. Also what sensors will need to be changed and what do i do with the computer when the new LQ4 goes in. Does is need to be reprogrammed or what? in either case would it be better to get a full lq4 out of a junkyard, $1300, or just buy the block $500 and start from there.

Just use your factory computer, it will probably run just fine off of it. Im not for sure if you will have to change any sensors, but if you do just pull the ones off of your old motor. On which 6.0 to get just depends on what your wanting to do with it, if you want to build a stroker or something like that I would just get the block, but if you dont wanna change any internals just get the complete motor.

That sounds smart. I will be building a stroker, prolly a 402. So i will look at getting the just the block and just taking parts off the ls1 to complete the engine (sensors and mains and all that). thanks for the input

$1,300, if I can't get decent $$$ out of it I will have to find something to put it in, I originally bought it for an s10 swap but I traded the s10 for my camaro so I no longer have a need for it.
