Lq4 intake vs ls6 intake
ok iv been looking around a bit and found that the truck intakes make better numbers than the ls6 intake but after searching more people say the intake will not fit under the hood... will the truck intake then fit like the edelbrock intake where you have to cut parts out of the cowl? the reason i ask this is because id rather use the lq4 intake that i already have!
Thanks

I don't know of anyone who managed to get one under the cowl. Regardless, if that intake has the 90mm throttle body opening, then it is a worthwhile upgrade over the LS1 intake, and in some cases better than the LS6.

If your using a Cathedral port head the the LS6 is the best Factory intake.
The Truck intakes may optimize low and mid range torque better but lack the flow on the top end.
The LS2 intake has a 90mm throttle bore but doesn't flow aswell as the LS6 untill it's been ported.Craig

im going to use the heads off the lq4 i have and p/p them. they should be the exact same as ls6 heads with bigger combustion chambers ill probably run -8cc pistons for a 10.5ish compression.... but SH*T it would of been really nice to just bolt the lq4 intake on and call it good im not trying to go "too" cheap but im on a budget! and when it comes to an ls6 intake i don't really want a plastic one im building the engine to drive it N/A for a while and in the future of a turbo or supercharger and i feel an aluminum intake or something would be better for that!?

There was a mag that did a dyno test on this stuff back around 02-03???
They found the big funky looking truck intake was the real sleeper of the bunch down low and throughout the mid range.
But like the others have said, it fell off above 5500 where the LS6 shined.
Overall though, I remember reading good reviews from the magazine on how the truck intake performed. I'll be using one on my 6.0 swap into an older truck, plenty of room and I'll need the low end grunt it provides.
On an Fbody I wouldn't bother, but I'm not one to cut things up either. I'd go LS6 or FAST depending on your goals.

Hope those help you make up your mind about cutting
The car never ran right since I did the install but I also did A LOT of other things with it. Before I could even test the intake I blew my converter and was down for most of the year. This spring I should have good dyno numbers and track times.

The LS6 is actually a popular choice for boost, no need to upgrade.
It's not like the 2 piece design of the FAST where boost applications have cause for concern.
