APS twin turbo on a stock 346 ls1

How well will a bone stock LS1 hold up with the APS twin turbo kit? The motor has 78,xxx miles

Depeneds on how much boost you plan on running...stock LS1s can hold 8psi for "some time"..."some time" being dependent on how hard you drive the car, if you take it to the track, etc.

Buddy has sts bone stock and runs 5psi. Many ls1 guys do run 7 /8 ish no problem on stock engine. Some much higher but personally would stick to that 7/8 range. There are several guys on ls1tech.com running aps setup on stock engines..so far so good.

Except for the intake tubes sucking shut at around 12 psi...I have 2 solutions for this problem floating in my head, but no one on LS1Tech wants to listen to anyone with a post count lower than 200

I have a friend with the APS kit on his car. Didn't have the stock motor for long... He didn't put a catch can on it in time and blew the stock motor up from losing oil. Now it's a forged 346 with 9.8:1 comp, stock 421's, ls6 intake, a decent sized boost cam(can't remember the specs), and bolt ons. The car made just a hair under 600whp on 6.5 psi. He is planning on running 14 psi when he gets his boost controller. There is a lot more into his car that I'm forgetting... Including the amount of time he has put into his fuel system.

Only problem I've seen is that the kit won't allow the front bumper to sit back flush with the hood now... But the gap is barely noticeable. The bumper still sits perfectly everywhere else.

5999 plus shipping I think for the standard these days and think 6999 for the upgraded turbos.
You still need to get fuel system, tuning of course.

Here's a rather dumb question, will i still be able to run a Y pipe after the install?

Yes, I think APS tried it's best to have the turbos exhaust to where LT Headers would be, but honestly, with that much HP, you really want True Duals.

Hmm thought posted. You can use a hooker and think kooks ypipe and catback. Quite a few aps guys are doing this and getting good times and power. For ultimate power true duals are best I am sure mabye with dual cutouts.
I am running a street pro cutout with hooker ceramic coated ypipe and b and b triflo.
See how that works soon. Trying to finish up 408 install and aps build in next week or so.

Would I need 3" duals or would 2.5 be good enough for the TT system, on a bolton car?

We are running dual cut outs on each side of the y-pipe on the APS kit and the car made almost 50whp more on 6.5psi with the cut outs open...

with a turbo car you dont want exhaust at all lol, go with maybe regular exhaust with a 3in cutout if you want to be "legal"
