Too bad you don't live near me I'd let you borrow mine. 600+ ft lbs of torque takes the bolt right out even if it has loctite on it.

They make electric impacts that'll knock out around 450 lb.ft. of torque... but they be a bit pricey.

Yeah mine was like $450 it is electric with the power of air. It's a IR W7150 it is quite nice.

It would be nice to have one but that's a bit pricey for something that probably wouldn't get used often, I'll just put the plate back on and muscle it off the old fashioned way

Ah cool, I still need to drain the tank though for my build I need to ensure I have e85 in there. 14.8 to 1 compression won't fly on regular gas and I am not sure how a quarter or less of a tank of 93 will change the ethanol rating.

How about pulling out the valve core in the fuel rail, putting a hose with a clamp on it, then turning the key on and draining the tank using the fuel pump? Unless your current pump is dead.

If you were to buy the impact gun, I bet you would use it more often then you think. It's also good for taking off tires, and other jobs even around the house.

I picked up a manual transfer pump from Tractor Supply that resembles a gas pump handle. It worked great draining the tank on our Suburban when I had to change the fuel pump and only cost around $20.

You're probably right, you never realize how much you might use something until you have it to use I see that HFT has an electric 1/2" rated at 230 ft lb for only $50. Might not be the best one but should work out well for what I do in the garage at home.

I actually looked before I posted this and couldn't find it on line. It worked great, probably had less than a half gallon left in the tank when we removed it.

no joke...I use mine for everything. Had to put some giant bolts into some studs when I mounted one of our TV's...lithium drill couldnt handle it...electric impact wrench worked like a charm lol

Mine is more basic than what I linked -- no one-way valve thingy or short extension. It just has the pump handle and a hose and cost less. You stick the hose in the tank, pump the handle to start the flow, and then hold the handle to keep it flowing. Pretty slick unit.

My brother in law rigged up a electric fuel pump, ran some leads to hook up to a battery and two hoses. That thing works great

Selling my pewter ws6 to buy a pewter hawk. In prep of this, I removed the short stick & replaced with stock. After having the short stick for years, it felt pretty good to use the stock shifter again. I'm gonna miss that ws6 hood, but the iroc spoiler sure will ease the pain.

Welp, that was a bust. Suppose I shouldn't have had high hopes for an HFT power tool to actually be powerful, haha. Rated at 240 ft lbs it couldn't break the crank bolt loose and just started to turn the pulley instead after a few seconds. Will probably take it back this afternoon. Lowes has a Kobalt version rated to 350 ft lbs. Might give that one a try. I should have done this before tearing it down to the shortblock. Probably would have made my life so much easier than messing with ratchets.

Damn I wish I saw your post before you bought it otherwise I would have said that my 250 ft lb air impact couldn't break the bolt loose which is why I bought the one I have now. I would think the 350 ft lb one would be able to. I use mine on a lot of things that I can to take bolt out but never to put them in.

It's no biggie since I can get a full refund. At least I got a decent deal on an impact socket set while I was there and it's close to my house. One of the Kobalt reviewers said he used it for a crank bolt and it worked great and other said it takes off axle nuts with no issue as well, so it should work well for my purposes. That was my plan as well, removal only except maybe to install some of the larger things like the torque arm bolts on the rear housing.
