trying for two tone interior
Hi all...I have a camaro with tan leather interior and would love to switch it up to a black and tan two tone look to compliment my already two tone door panels. Looked into the re-upholstery option but that is cost prohibitiver and would waste some perfectly good leather on the seats.
Has anyone ever successfuly dyed their interior leather? Product suggestions? Directions on how they did it? ANYTHING like that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the input! |

Find a shoe repair shop, lether craft, or saddle repair shop. My Dad did all of the above. Find a local shop and they can point you in the right direction.

i agree, that would be my fear too. . . if your gonna try it, i would definitely get the adhesion promoter that it suggests, also.

You have to get rid on the finish on anything that has a finish (shine) to it. Or it will not stick right. When I was just getting old enough to help Dad in the leather shop we did the whole interior of a '78 T/A. Even tho it is not leather talk to a leather shop. Most have dyed vinyl and plastic also.

Maybe I will just give it a whirl on one of the back seats and see what it looks like. Guess the fear would still be on the front seats which would be more $ to replace and are a much more high traffic...

![]() Here's my dusty two-tone interior for the CETA im rebuilding (this was professionally reupholsted). I know a guy who used krylon on his seats for his rebuild and you absolutely cannot tell. They look brand-new and it doesn't rub off (if you do it right). I will be replacing my interior with new covers off ebay. Theres a seller on there that owns an upholstery shop and he makes custom 2 tone leather covers that go on the seats (about $800). Thats for all seats, headrests and door panels. Take a look. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...Q5fAccessories |
