93 camaro

help me please i have a 93 z28 that was recked.so i bought a 96 v6 that was in good shape.we put the gas tank rear end computer engine wiring harness and hooke almost everything up. what else do i need for this conversion it will not start

we straight wired the starter so we turn the key and then touch the wire to a hot and it cranks but will not start. i dont need the wireing harness under the dash of the v8 car do i? there r a few censors still unplugged what else could it be?

You shouldnt. You might have to change the gauges not sure on that. Check to see that you have fuel and spark. Then you can track your problem.

if fuel comes out of the thing on the fuel rail then its getting fuel right. and as far as spark i will check that tomorrow and the guage clusters r the same as weird as that is

Check the pressure...


You sure they are the same? the v6 cars go to 120, V8's to 155mph...

The reason I say check the clusters is they might have different senders.

First thing to check is the coil and see if it is getting power.If that is good I would look at the control module and then the optispark. When you changed the engine did you spill any coolant on the opti?

no we didnt spill any how many wires go to the starter they r 2 wires that r black and white near the starter where do they go

Imho, first you should hook everything up that is susposed to be hooked up before trying to diognose any problems..Just my .02..

Black and white are probably O2 sensor wires. Should still start without them just run really bad. I just remembered the vats system. Is the security light on when you turn the ignition? Do you have a service manual? It will give schematics for all the wiring.

no not all and yes there is power to the coil just not firing what do i need to do about the security system? a machenic told me 200 to 300 to get it running is it simpler than that

Then you have to check to see if the opti is the problem or control module. Could also be the pcm possibly. The security system could be preventing the ignition from firing. I am not positive if the chip in the key is programmed to the pcm.
