Well, today feels like Day 1 from the Dealer... on my '99 TransAm 30th Ed. t-top. I've been fixing all the little typical nits when you buy a used car as 3rd owner, and just got her inspected last week. Air conditioning now blowing cold and mold-smell-free, and so the final action to make her "MINE:" I got out the Manual and entered the radio THEFT-LOCK code. Now I have another nice blinking red-light when she's parked and alarmed. Cool ! :-) It's Jan. 1999 all over again. What were the top 10 rock songs then?
I'm down in Atlantic City till Wednesday. Picked up my new used exhaust tonight too ( main purpose for the unexpected vacation as the seller is 10 miles away ). GTP longtube headers without EGR/Air, brand new never used TSP OR/Y, and GMMG catback. I'm stoked! Can't wait to get it all installed. The catback is my priority for now. Going to buy a bunch of parts for the header job, such as plugs, gaskets, engine mounts, all the goodies for a longtube job. Then i'll hope that Jeff is all game for another header install job and to teach me a thing or two of this process
Nice, love those wheels on these cars! If I put aftermarkets on mine it will definitely be the TT2s.
That's funny!😃. I got rid of my '01 T-top WS6 months before my daughter got her permit!
She really wanted to learn standard in it! I taught her in my "altered" Tacoma! She drove a 5-speed Cobalt after that!
A couple months back I let her drive my '00 convertible! Seeing the joy and giggling as she let out the clutch left me teary!😢
Teaching her to burn out Sunday gave me the same joy! Next time I show her how to use the LL!💕😊
Teach them how to be in control...no surprises!
Oh my God I love this shit!😍🎉😊
Well the chill is in the air here in good OL' Maryland. So I drove the TA to work to check the ummmm... POSItraction.:D:chuckles: Yep, still working perfectly!! Even at 60mph, it still will leave the 2 stripes :drivin:on the freshly paved roads.:woot2: Nothing like the cool air adding a few extra hp's under the hood. I have a love hate relationship with the colder air. My body hates it, but my "butt" dyno absolutely LOVES it. So now its time for new rear tires.......again.:unhappy:
I'm all firmed up and booked for next week to be out in Baltimore. Fly in Tuesday and fly out Thursday afternoon.
Looking forward to it! I hope the weather is as nice next week as it has been this week. I have another buddy flying in from San Diego on wednesday as well.
I haven't had my car in cooler temps yet, but on Friday I went for a quick ride after being out all day and it felt about 60, I got on it in first gear and it lost traction going in a straight line. Hardly ever does that. So then I went to a back road and turned around, came out aggressive to do my little 1st gear slide then a chirp into 2nd. Well when I threw it in 2nd it kept screeching and the rear got away from me alarmingly quick, I ended up in a person's lawn for a moment, got out of there real quick . Surprised the hell out of me since for awhile I actually had to try to make it break traction, but that spooked me a bit and I don't want it to happen again lol! I can definitely see how the cooler weather has an effect on how cars run from cooler air in the intake to a cooler surface the tires meet.
I wish there was a drivers school/road course I could take this too. Would be fun to go all out on a high speed road course.
I've been looking for awhile for one. I have wanted a GMMG system on an LS1 car for the last 10yrs, just needed to get the car first . I was about to get a madhammer kit, but a guy on the facebook f-body classifieds group caught my post and offered me everything for $100 more than a new madhammer. Scored!
Definitely planning on it. I'll have something to keep me occupied as I have this week off. Best R&R is car parts.
I am back and forth on trying the wetsanding deal that most Cobra owners do for their stainless exhausts. Depends how dirty it remains after some attempt to shine. Planning to spray it with some engine degreaser and power wash it for a bulk clean up, then go to town on it with some polish and some throw away rags.
Just got a GoPro camera. Went out to get a suction mount immediately afterwards. Been having fun with it! Going to make a quick short video with it. Until then here is yet another video of exhaust. Full 1080p and 60fps. Very good clean audio quality too. Aside of price, I don't see how I have gone this long without a GoPro.

That's cool Daren you should be able to get plenty of good video of the back of my car next week at the Beaver..hahahahaha
Ok, F-Body vets, you will laugh! Final checks on used 30th Ed. T/Am and made sure my big 4-way x-steel lug-nut wrench fit the wheel bolts. BUT, they felt loose... turned with finger pressure. Took me 10mins. to realize what I thought were metal bolts were ยข99 plastic bolt caps! :-)) BUT, anyone know where I can get glow-in-dark BLUE ones? Saw some green ones on eBay, but...
Yep, plastic caps. They do look nice but are kind of a pain. I have only lost one since we bought our car in '08.
Depending on how far you are ready to faff about...
And if yours are in good shape, you could get them vacuum metalized in a blue
color?
I had this done a long while ago on some '64 Buick armrest plastics and it was a really
good chrome like finish.
Amusingly i had them done so long ago it was not a mainstream process and i sent my
parts to a coffin furniture manufacturer in Scotland!! Think about it.....?!
Just a thought.
:)
I have a full exhaust plotted. I got the catback ( used GMMG ) looking like new again, very pleased with the outcome.
