Kayaks are on the roof of the Suburban and ready for the ride home tomorrow. First attempt to get one up there was an epic fail that resulted in a bruised hand and a wife laughing hysterically.

If I recall, the security system electronics are all in the BCM, not the PCM. The VATS bypass is the only way I know of to bypass the system. However, with a schematic you probably could locate the interrupt circuits and bypass them.

Reach back and feel is it's leaking at the y joint that is behind the intake. They tend to split with age and if the hose cracks off the back of the valve cover it can let oil leak out and it will drop all down the sides and bell housing.

Only two ways that I know of -- physically removing it from the car and dumping it out or a power flush where fluid is drained and added, usually via a cooler line, with the engine running. The transmission basically pumps out the old fluid on its own while a flush machine adds the same amount...

Rear main and cover seal appear to be fine. No need to mess with those imo.

Sounds like the compressor. I only took a quick look at it last time we were down. Will play with it some more this weekend and see what I can find.

I would think something else is severely wrong if you're going through shocks like my grandma used to go through a pack of cigarettes. I personally went with Koni 4/4's and Strano lower springs. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I wondered about that too, but I guess you don't really need that much fluid? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I'll add this. the older T56 like in the 98 only like Dexron III transmission fluid. Tick suspects that the IV I put in killed my transmission and required my rebuild from them. They believe IV eats away at the friction material on the syncros and once they're gone everything else starts to go...

Looks like I can still get the old style compressors at the local parts places. Since we are heading down this weekend, I'll try to better diagnose it and may jump the pressure switch to see if the compressor will engage. I did retrofit the AC system for R134 a while back and it was running good.

Start at Post #59 in this thread: http://www.ls1.com/forums/f66/k-member-swap-upgrades-163761/ I dropped my K-member to swap in a tubular UMI piece so I had lots of room to work. Not sure of the clearances with the K-member in place.

I will second Scott's motion on the oil pan gasket. Our car was leaking oil and I was convinced it was the rear main. Swapping the seal isn't awful, but you do have to drill out two (2) rivets that retain the stock gasket to the pan. Let me see if I can find the thread with pics of where I...

No, and I do not really recommend it either. Using Type F in a GM transmission is an old rodder's trick for firmer shifts and better feel. The rule of thumb these days is to only use the older style fluids - Type F, Dex III, etc... in older GM transmissions like TH350, TH400, 2004R, and so forth....

Humidity saps the life out of me. First three days this week were kind of rough. Today should be better and then the weekend starts around 4:30 this afternoon. I mounted the Malone kayak carriers on the roof of the 'Burb last night. The shape and angle of the crossbar isn't really ideal for...
