f body is the letter designation for the camaro, firebird line of cars. gm gave all its passenger cars letter designations . the nova ,Phoenix, skylark, and omega was the x body chevelle line was b body and so on. all camaros and firebirds are f bodys

All Camaros and Firebirds (and therefore Trans Ams, etc.) are fbodys...regardless if it's a V6 or V8, LT1 or LS1, 1st Generation or 4th Generation, etc. etc.
