    new from virginia

I'm new here and new to LS1 stuff. I'm 44, always been a car guy, but have not messed with muscle cars since the 80's. The last few years I was stuck driving a Scion XB due to a divorce. Well, this Wednesday that all changed , I saw a cherry 2000 TransAm WS6 at a local lot with only 54k on her. I traded the Scion and can now cross off a bucket list item! She's not stock, so far I see headers, a Magnaflow cat back, Edelbrock strut bar. Got a friend with a lift so we'll see what else has been done. The mods worried me a little but she cleaned up like new, blows no smoke and all the fluids look good. Did I mention she's cherry, a ding king took care of the small ding.

Thanks guys, car cleaned up cherry, but I think I might have been taken. Car has the WS6 badge and ram air hood, but it has 16" (ABS center cap )wheels. It's FREEZING cold here today, so I gotta look a little more at the VIN sticker but I did not see a WS6 on it, just WS9. The hood seems stock as it's heavy as heck. I had a Mustang in the 80's with a aftermarket fiberglass hood and it was light. Tomorrow it's sipposed to be warmer so I'll throw it up on the ramps and see whats what on the underside.

Sorry to say Ed that if you do not have "WS6" on the RPO sticker then you got a regular Firebird. All is not lost though. Depends on how much you paid and the overall condition when you have it in the air. Post some pics and give us more details. You may have still got a good deal. Did the dealer advertise it as a Trans Am WS6 ?

Things are getting more interesting! After replacing the blown 20A engine sensor fuse the car runs like a scalded dog. Jacked it up over the weekend and found poly bushings on both sway bars and a Edelbrock Panhard bar. Headers are long tube, and there is a cut out before the cat back. Looked in the oil filler tonight and I see orange roller rockers. Wonder if the PO did the pushrods, lifters and cam at the same time?

Sounds like you may have Harland Sharp rockers and maybe hardened push rods. It seems like you did ok. Congrats.
