I recently bought a 2002 Trans Am and have several questions about it. When I bought the car I was under the assumption that it was a real WS6, but come to realize it may not be. Is there an easy way to tell because it does have the ram air hood, the air intake does not look correct. Also, I did a carfax on it and it comes up as a formula. Is there much of a difference in a regular TA versus a formula.

Formula has a different interior ..front end ..and spoiler(trunk lid). It is the v6 car with a ls1 in it basically. Look on the door at all the codes and look for ws6 (rpo codes)

The TA has a different interior(leather), trunk and front end. It is merchandising package

Congrats on the buy... you won't be sorry!

The door sticker should say WS6 as an option code.

welcome to the site... there are a few ways to tell... the intake opening will be about 1" tall on a ram air... the opening on a TA or formula is about a 1/2"... like 666 said... on the driver side door there is a sticker... some where on the sticker there will be a "WS6"...

There is no sticker on the door, but I did notice that the air intake is shorter. Is it worth it, and how much would it cost to change the air intake to a "true" WS6 intake? I'm just curious if its worth the extra money to change the air intake system.

Waste of money IMO to make a WS6 clone.

You can make your car SO much better/faster with the money you save in buying a base TA/Formula than a WS6. The only thing I would suggest is the hood... everything else, just mod your car like you normally would.
