New member with a question ?

First I want to say hello to everyone and Happy Memorial's Day to our fallen heroes ! I'm from Las Vegas originally from the SF bay area. I currently drive a 94 Z28. I recently sold my 02 SLP SS and am looking to purchase another low mile one in the near future ! The question I have is about my current Z ? If my transmission (4L60E ) slips from 1st to 2nd on a medium to hard launch, does it mean I need to have the trans rebuilt or does it mean I need to get the bands tightened ? I would sure hate to spend $$$ on a rebuild if I don't need it . It also slips on the freeway on a downshift. Other than that, the car for being 14 years old runs great ! This car I've owned since 97.

nothing like taking it to the mechanic and drop a few hundred to find out, if your handy try it at home if not whip out your dillfold.
