New member hoping complete my 67 firebird build

    Hello All
this is my first post and thought I would drop a line. i have not yet had a chance to search the forums but I am working on dropping a different motor in my 67 firebird. I have less then no mechanical skill but friend of mine is a mechanic. For the curious that are still reading i am thinking of a 6.0L with turbo. I going to change tranny too I think to a stick. Hope to find some good threads with pros and cons.

Welcome! A 6.0 with a power adder is a stout combination. Keep in mind that you will need to upgrade the fuel system to supply 58 psi to the rails and you will need an aftermarket engine controller or factory PCM. Fortunately, the aftermarket now has just about everything you need to pull off a swap of this nature without having to beat your head against your work bench... much.

That will also get it done quite well. The 5.3 is a stout engine and makes a good foundation for a power adder build.

ok thanks. i am hoping to get good power/ acceleration without too much strain on motor. i hope 700hp is not too much to ask for. this will be the only build i do so hoping it done right. i dont care about top end so much. the only think mechanic said to shoot for is 01 to 06 year. should be lots to find in 5.3 as well as 6.0

Agree. Staying in that date range is probably best. Remember that many of these engines were equipped with displacement on demand (DOD) cylinder deactivation for better fuel mileage.
