Congrats! Sounds like you have an A4, so definitely a fluid and filter change on the transmission. Other basic maintenance would include cleaning the MAF and throttle body, replacing the air filter, plugs and wires, changing the engine oil and rear diff gear oil, flushing the cooling system and changing hoses and belts. Also, not a bad idea to carefully inspect things like the sway bar end links, ball joints, and tie rod ends. I would install a trans cooler before an oil cooler.

Welcome to the site. Details on car? Pics? pajeff02 hit it right on the dot with the first things to do after buying a car. When it comes to mods on these cars most start with lid (sounds like you have) then headers (big increase in power). Dont know what year you have but 00 or older and you could do a ls6 intake upgrade. After most get full bolt ons it's time to start with h/c/i. Gears would also be a big help.

Dont go with the ram air. The hood is heavier and you wont gain a thing by having it.
Exhaust, gears, cam, converter, tires (goodbye 10-bolt), and you have a fun car. Pics?
