White- 1987 Monte Carlo SS
New here
Hello all,
I'm new to all of the LS engine stuff but decided to swap in a LS2/4L60e from an '06 GTO in to my 1987 Monte Carlo SS. I tried to link several pics but was denied the post!
Oh well...maybe after my first post the powers that be will let me show y'all my toys.

Welcome to the site, Jose. You should be able to post pictures in this section. Are you using a hosting site like photobucket? If so, use the IMG code.

I am using photobucket to link pictures here but I get a "posting denied" response for containing too many URLs or inappropriate words.
BEATS ME!

Welcome to the site! Is the car up and running, or are you still in the midst of your swap?

welcome aboard! not sure if it still applies or not, but you usually need 10 posts before you can post pictures. I had the same thing happen when I first joined a while back.

Thanks for the info! I'll try to get up to that number today, if possible. Usually, on the other forums I've subscribed to, they hound you until you do post pics! Lol!
paJeff02,
I am still in the swapping process. I started back in February with pulling the tired L69 305/200R4 with 214K miles. For the next few months I started to gather parts I'd need, cleaning up, etc. I really started working on things in June, stripping the frame rails (firewall forward) down to the bare metal. I then primed and painted. I also performed a brake upgrade, using the front spindles, rotors and calipers from a '00 s10 blazer. They have larger rotors and dual piston calipers but still will work with the Monte's stock aluminum wheels. I completely rebuilt the frond end with MOOG rubber. I just recently stripped the undercarriage of crud and grime, then painted....its a shame it looks so beautiful, since no one really will see it. Lol! This week I just finished replacing all of the body bushings and replaced the proportioning valve to accommodate disk brakes on all four corners.
So what I have to swap in is a LS2/4L60e from an '06 GTO. The engine had 23K at the time of the pullout. I have the wiring harness from PSI conversions, in addition to an LS1 PCM and LS1 alternator. I got my full length, ceramic coated headers, LH8 oil pan and 1" set back mounts from BRP. Lastly, I have a Quick Performance 9" rear end, modded for a G body with 3.70 gears. This would be much more simple to do if only I could post pictures!!
By the way Jeff, are you also on TAC?

Sounds awesome and like you are doing it right. Not sure what "TAC" is... so probably not. Only other forum I belong to is a Turbo Buick site.

Ah, I see. TAC is Trans Am Country. There is a moderator, mainly for 4th gen T/A's named Jeff. Their focus is mainly on 2nd gen T/A's and Firebirds but all generations are welcomed....including the ever elusive 5th gen T/A!

If I cannot link directly for now, how do I attach a pic? I tried to copy and paste but that didn't work.

You have 5 posts now and should be fine. But to attach a picture without a code:
Hit reply to thread to start a new post.
Then click on the insert image icon above your post and add picture from your computer.

Ok, let's see if it works...
Here's my '77 Trans Am SE. It has the original Pontiac 400 but was stroked to a 467 when I did the majority of the restoration. I bought it from the original owner in 1992 when they were still quite plentiful.
1989 IROC-Z with a 5.7 TPI. I also bought this from the original owner back in '06 with 55K miles. The only mod done to it was emissions legal Edelbrock headers and a Borla exhaust.
The '87 Monte SS is the one getting the transplant
This is what's going in...rather what went in yesterday!
Here's my daily driver and workhorse. '97 Silverado Z71 5.7
