New from Central Ohio
I recently traded my 97 V6 in on a SOM 2002 SS. I am in love! What a difference! The SS only has 17k miles & is pristine. She spends most of her time in the garage resting for really nice days. The only mods (so far) are a borla catback that was on it when I bought it & I did the FRA mod. A new SLP lid should be here tomorrow & then I am starting my header savings fund. So far, there are only two things I don't like about the SS. One is that it is so nice, I am afraid to do anything to it, for fear of breaking/scratching something. The other is that everytime I drive it, I really miss my Dad. Lost him about a year & a half ago & listening to him tell stories about his beloved 68 Z28 that he got once returning from Vietnam, is what made me dream of having my own Camaro someday. I just wish I could take him for a ride, as I am pretty sure mine might be a little faster than his was.

Welcome to the site! Sorry about your father... but very cool to see that his enjoyment of a first gen F-body made such an impression on you.

G'day and welcome.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Thanks fellas. I looked into getting a 68 & it just wasn't worth it compared to getting an F-Body. What I mean is, for the money I had to spend, I could & did get a top of the line F-Body, but for the same price, the 68 would not have been anywhere near top of the line. lol. Plus, the 02 is kind of my generation Z anyhow. And thanks for the condolences on my Dad....just wish i could take him for a ride!!!

Thanks, I was really drawn to the SOM. I had never seen one, at least on an SS. I looked it up & they only made like 283 in 02. I had a dark green 1997 V6 I traded in on this one, it was kind of an odd color too.
It is funny, as I kind of miss it, until I mash the gas on the SS. What a HUGE difference!!

I always form an attachment to my cars. Whether they be 4,6 or 8 cylinders
