Red- Lumina SS
Hi from Saudi
Hi people, my name is Terry I am an ex-pat living and working in Saudi Arabia as an Aircraft Technician. I purchased a Lumina VY SS 5.7 Litre V8 from a work collegue. Love the car but have had nothing but problems with the auto gear box. Seems they didn't match the torque of the engine to the transmission. I also have a Nissan Skyline R33 GTST back in the UK. Anyways, nice to meet you all.

Thanks guys, I am a bit of a DIY mechanic but know very little about auto transmissions so we'll see what advice I can get.

I don't have the knowledge on RWD transmissions to be of much help. Sorry, but like most things heavier internals would seem to way to go.. My knowledge of RWD trannies is from days gone by.. I can help with GM FWD cars I'm still learning the newer RWD trannies.. However there are many good folks here that can help you with what you need.. The north american Lumina is a FWD car, we were'nt lucky enough to have them in RWD..

I am used to my rear wheel drive manual Skyline back home so sort of in the same position. As usual you can find anything you want on youtube including repairing an Auto Transmission. Seems like TCI make upgrades for LS1 running gear and GM manufacturers.

Well, the luck never ends, come out of work, go to start the car and the battery is dead. So jump start and off to buy a new battery. On the way back I can tell the engine mount has gone. Nice vibration coming from the front end. Does anyone know how long I can drive it like this as now short of readies!!!
