    Smile Camaro SS SLP

Hi guys. Im a new member but have been around and built many muscle cars, street rods and customs. My first car in 1979 was a 67 SS 396. I also have a 1951 Buick roadmaster two door hardtop. It has been sub-framed and has a 425 nailhead with two fours. The car I have now is a low mileage 98 ss slp. I love learning from people like you guys.

    Thanks a lot
Im very happy to meet you
    Mike

Welcome aboard Mike. I love those old Nailhead motors. They are torque monsters. Post some pics after you hit 10 posts.

Buddy of mine just bought a new Turbo Buick so the answer to that question would be a big fat yes lol AWD, 6 speed, and a turbo...its pretty legit.

Buick made some badass cars. Until the Viper came out - the '70 Stage 1 was at the top of the food chain.

I am somewhat confused by your statement. Can you elaborate a bit more what you mean?

I'm assuming he's talking about the 1970 Buick GSX...it was a bad mofo.

"However, what nestled beneath that sinister hood was an engine with the highest torque rating of any American car, until the Dodge Viper eclipsed it in 2003. In 1970, the Buick 455 produced 510-lb.ft. of torque at 2,800 rpm and 350hp at 4,600 rpm. The more powerful Stage 1 produced the same torque rating, but had 10 more horsepower in 1970."

For shame! My parents sold the only cool car they ever owned back when I was in grade school -- '67 Dodge Coronet ragtop. The kid they sold it to painted it red, added some Cragers and then piled it up in short order. After that it was vans and shitboxes, including the '81 Plymouth Reliant that got me through college and law school. I was so uncool.

Back in the late 70's I raced at E-Town mostly and there was a guy named Jimmy Reed with a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 that my 1968 Hemi GTX just couldn't beat. I lost to him all four times I raced him so I know all about the food chain because my GTX was on it.

I loved my 1967 Dodge Coronet 500. I got it from a guy who was getting divorced in 1994 and I spent the next seven years pouring my kids college fund into that car until I sold it in 2001. Great car. 500 inch Indy Motor, Turbo Action trans and converter and a Dana 60 with 4.10's out back. I ran 1 7/8" Hookers with a 3" exhaust and drag shocks with SS springs. The best part of that car was the car was stock inside and out, only the drivetrain and suspension were modified so it was the ultimate sleeper. I ran 11.70's on street tires with that beast and made a few bucks on suckers who thought "Grand Pa's car" was an easy mark. Great Memories.
