Sunset Orange Metallic-M6- 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
WS6 with jet chip
So I bought a SOM WS6 that is bone stock other than a Jet performance chip. Should i take it out? will it cause me any problems? is it unsafe for the car?
i hear they dont do much, but i also hear it made a .2 second difference in the 1/4 mile. but id rather keep my car from detonating than go slightly faster.
thanks guys. its an M6, 2002.

Take it out. Make sure it didnt do anything already. Just take it out, whatever it is.
No, No way no how... is it giving you .2 tenths in the 1/4. If anything... its costing you .2 tenths.

It's not the proper way to alter these car's performance. You don't need a "CHIP" for anything unless you want some with a sandwich. There are many software programs that allow a person to properly "TUNE" our cars performance. Chips are 80's/early 90's technology. You are almost unlimited as to what can be done with real tuning software.

wow. Since i want to supercharge my car, though not for a while, what software would people suggest? I hear i need to check and adjust my Air/Fuel Ratio with the magnachrger. 12.5 being the limit of safety, and 11.5 being safe. Id love to do things myself rather than spend about $500 every time i want a dyno tune.
thanks for all the help

I wouldn't call 12.5 safe for forced induction; at least not on our cars. HPTuners and EFILive are the two heavy hitters for GM.
