Where's the torque?/Intermediate Steering Shaft
I am running, AFR 205 heads, COMP XER 281HR cam, F.A.S.T. 90 mm intake and throttle body, Hooker Jet Hot coated headers, 6 spd trans and a mezier electric water pump. I had the car dynotuned and while it put out a healthy 424.7 RWHP the torque peaked at 361 lb-ft. I dont' know what the fuel/air is but it seems rich based on smell and deposits in the tailpipes (okay I'm old school) Is this a tuning issue?
Also, my intermediate steering shaft and rack and pinion are shot. I found the rack and pinion without difficulty. But the steering shaft is another matter. GM doesn't make them anymore and I couldn't find anything in the aftermarket. I really don't want a junkyard part if I can avoid it. Anybody run into this? I know a guy who says he can rebuild the steering shaft, is that viable? Other solutions?Last edited by jbwhite; 05-08-2009 at 07:59 AM.
