Question what does lowering spark do?

I recently talked to a guy form slp about my slp maf and my diablo tune.he said the diablo tune was made to work with the stock maf sensor and that i should retard the knock a little. 2 or 3*, anyone know why i might need to do this. he was in a rush to get off the phone the whole time, so he did not explain anything about it he just told me to lower and see how it feels

I dont think it has anything to do with timing. Just fuel. I would try to dial your Long term fuel trims and Power Enrichment in. Might help it run better.
