Is tuning a necessity with Full Exhaust - 2010 ss
My Son in law has a full stainless works system i sold him for his 2010 camaro ss.
He is coming home from iraq next month and was going to put it on himself.
With the headers with hi flo cats, will the car need a tune, i know a tune is always better obviously, but didn't know how the car will drive without it

it would drive fine without the tune, but with LT headers it is always a good idea to get a tune to max it's potential.

Agree. Anything that changes the airflow through the engine impacts the volumetric efficiency (VE). The PCM relies upon a VE table which is essentially a correction factor upon which fueling is based. To some extent, the feedback from your front O2 senders will assist the PCM in adding or subtracting fuel, however, these are ignored during open loop operation (when the engine is below a certain temp) and at WOT. A tune is therefore your best bet and I highly recommend a mail order tune from Frost, one of our site sponsors: Tuned by Frost

do the tune by frost befor he gets here and no big deal it will run with out it but it will be far more fun with one and you dont have to look at the light on in the dash

with the exception of throwing the rear O2 sensor code, the car will drive fine untuned. It will have more fun factor when tuned

It will set cat efficiency codes as well.
The suck part about mail ordering a late model car is that if it's an automatic, you can only mail order the engine side since the A6 controller is in the trans.
What type of trans does the car have?
