Tuning costs
I called a local shop that specializes in tuning and was told that a full tune would take about a day and runs about $500. Does this sound right? Should I just buy my own software for about the same cost or is it too complex for someone with no tuning experience?

Sounds about right for doing the job properly.

Sounds right. If they spend all day on you then they care
I paid 450 for an 1 1/2 hours, also got a BS tune for it.

Thanks. I'm tuned now from a guy who unfortunatly moved out of state, but am adding nitrous. I was leaning toward getting the software so I could make adjustments depending on if I was using the nitrous or not. Could I get away with a handheld for the basics-timing, fuel etc or would you reccommend going for the HP setup?

You can just use Frost and he will tune for the best N/A with the mods you have and then when you flip the switch for nitrous it will adjust tune for nitrous only. So you have the best of both worlds.
