Unhappy trying to lean out the idle

Hello, I have a 01 ss that I just rebuilt the engine. It's a 347 and has the 243heads, header and a comp cam 228 with a 588 lift on a 112 center line. I am trying to get this thing to lean out at idle. I am trying to tune it through the maf. I had it tuned, but it smells like raw gas at idle. It runs great, 390 at the rear wheels. I have efilive computer. Any help would be appericated. Thanks, James

do you have a wideband hooked up to it? What's your afr at idle? Have you reduced the first 3 rows of your ve table? You can also change your open loop commanded afr with the b3605 table in efilive that's under engine>fuel>mixture.

A nose isn't an AFR indicator. With headers and the overlap that cam has, it is GOING to smell like gas at idle. On top of that, unless you run OL, you CAN'T lean out idle, the car is correcting itself by about 92-100degF ECT.

No i don't have a wide band hook up. The afr at idle is 8.6 and running is 14.8. Thanks for your input. When i had it tune the idle was 10.5. I try to adjust the idle. Now i can't get the idle back up to 10.5. I was hoping to get the idle to stay around 12.5. Thanks, James

Is that just because of his cam? I'm asking because I'm having the same problem but I know that my previous tune didn't make my cheatr cam smell like raw fuel. I think its 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA.

Do the math on the overlap for your old cam (I am lazy ATM ) and do it for his; the difference is very large. Without cats, the small is present in general as well. They can help cover up some of it.

When you say reduce the first three rows of my ve table. I have at 400 rpm 27.3110 and the map psi is 2.2. I have just started learning the efilive so please bear with me. The 800 is 29.8671 at 2.2. To change the top three row do go + or - and what %?
