    2001 GMC SIERRA

    Exclamation timing

    hi guy,s i have a ? on tha timming for my trucks i have a 5.3 with cam and heads and 150 shot nos, and curently i em running 20 degrees and i em not making any horsepower on motor what do you guys ricommend

    don't know why you've got the timing set back so far, but i'd put it at 25*. that's where i've had my motors run with 150+ n2o.

    It's not low for a truck cal though really, remember they leave the factory ready to go on 87 octane and they have small chambered heads (5.3L).

    Poster, if you move the timing up to 26-27 you will likely not find a lot more than a bunck of knock

    FWIW on my newly acquired 2002 5.3 Chevy Silverado LT, the factory WOT High Octane timing is 11 degrees, and the Low Octane is 8, feathering down to 6...lol...

    Needless to say, I'll be buying the needed HPTuners license for this one too.
