Speed Chips on EBay??? Good or Bad?

Will those Performance Speed Chip / Modules they sell on EBay really do anything positive for power gains? They are claiming 12-15 RWHP.

States in part.....The Precision Engineered Performance module simply wires into the factory harness of the IAT sensor. The module will work with the sensor to provide a new signal to your vehicles computer, or ECU. The ECU then adjusts your air/fuel and timing advance curves to new performance settings.

Sounds something like the SLP air temp module - never tried one. Personally I'd stay away from both.

It's a ripoff. First, it's a 59 cent resistor. 2nd, it won't do anything other than screw up the tune of your car by fooling it into thinking the incoming air is cold. So the timing will advance, you'll get knocking, and then the timing will be retarded to lower than it would be before you screwed with it.

    Stay away from it.

    Just my opinion.

They are useless crap. All it does is cause the engine to unecessarily burn more fuel.

Don't waste your time or money.

Like the others have said, these are JUNK.

Get a hand held programmer,or a custom tune for some real horsepower and torque gains.

    Yep.

There are no new "magical, cheap, miracle" ways to make power with a gasoline engine. Tried and true works.

Find ways to get more air and fuel into the engine.... you'll make more power.

And to the other guy, $200 is supercheap, just make sure you get everything.
