    Software

So after reading a few threads ive decided i want to get a some tuning software, however i have several questions....which is best? hp tuners efi live or ls1 edit? hp tuners is definatley the cheapest. will it be difficult for me to start tuning my car? will i be able to do just as good as if i take it down to anti venom and get him to dyno tune it? if i tune my stock engine will i see gains? im getting pretty excited and im about to order one of these programs

    thanks mike

LS1Edit is the horse and buggy of tuning software. HPTuners and EFILive have their advantages. i went with HPTuners due to cost.

difficult for you to start tuning?

up to how good you are able to learn and understand what everything in a tuning software does.

will you be as good as the guy at antivenom?

again, up to your learning abilities.

if i tune my stock engine will i see gains?
depends on how far off it is. when i was using the vinci tuner, i picked up .2 and 1.4 mph in the 1/4 mile.

did you read my visual guide to HPTuners?

by the way i did just read over your guide and it looks really interesting but some of the things looked as if they might be over my head, is there a manual that might help me along with this kinda of stuff or would i be on my own?

depending on how far you plan to go mod wise with your car I wouldn't even consider the standard version. The pro version lets you log your wideband ( which you will eventually want to get) right along with your other pids. If you've never had the pleasure of logging them seperately let me tell you it really sucks. Much nicer to log them together.
If you read the guide and only some of it is over your head then you're a step up on me. To read it not knowing anything about it I would expect it to almost all be over your head. Those things come with time and reading.
Hptuners has an excellent help file with their software and there's tons of people at the site willing to help you along.

LS1Edit tune at LG Motorsports was a bit off for the 402 ls2... especially for the built stage 5 A4 transmission where attention to detail was a must, shift points and Rev optimization vs Cam lift for G5X4 custom grind cam. then they used HPTuners and was much more robust, detailed and smooth tunning.

    HPTuners > LS1Edit

dang the ls1 edit is like 1600 bucks isnt it? who would opt for that program over the 5 or 600 dollar hptuner?

and orion some of things on the hp guide i could understand somewhat, but there was quite a bit that was just right over my head, have you guys seen this book? what do you think of it
