    SES light! what causes code p1416?

    I am having a problem on my 01 T/A a4. The ses used to come on and later go back off. Now it stays on and won't go off! I checked the code at autozone and it showed a p1416 twice. Does anyone have any idea where I can start to look to solve this issue. It is described on other sites as a "Secondary Air Injection System Bank 2". It also states that there was " no change detected in the o2 sensor voltage". Any help is greatly appreciated.

    passenger side check valve ( sits on the exhaust manifold). ~$20 at NAPA I think.

    Yep, been there - probably clogged.

    I changed the passenger check valve but I still have to erase the codes to see if that was the problem. I thought the car still had the original plugs, With 115k it would have been overdue. When I pulled the plugs, they were denso platinum's and three had the tips burnt almost completely off. It still had the factory wires. Now after alot of cussing and bleeding, all 8 wires and plugs have been changed. It's bad enough the passenger side is a -----, but me being big didn't make it any easier! Hopefully between a new check valve, new tr 55 plugs, and autolite wires(they didn't have msd's in stock!) it will take care of the ses light! It sure does drive differently!

    The SES should turn itself of for 1416 after three consecutive ignition cycles the diagnostic runs without a failure, but will stay in PCM history for 40 cycles. Thinking the air diagnostic runs on cold starts. Plug changes are fun aren't they?
