rear o2 delete?
silly question but ive heard this phrase thrown around here a couple times and never really understood wat the benefit is in deleting the rear o2 sensor, should i do it during my tune, and will my car pass inspection?

Yea, the car will pass inspection. Only real reason is if you get rid of the cats. Only way they would know if you got rid of the cats would be if they hooked it up to a sniffer. The reason to delete the o2s is if you don't, and get rid of the cats, it will throw a code, and the OBDII will tell them the cats are bad or they aren't there, so then they'll hook it up to a sniffer. Then you won't pass. But 96 up I believe, they don't hook it up to the sniffer since OBDII will tell them of any problems.

well i dont think im going to be getting rid of the cats cause this is basically my everyday car. but in general any benefit if i did it or just not even bother with it because im keeping the cats on anyway

I wouldn't bother really. I don't see any reason to keep the cats just cause its your daily driver. Thats practically 20hp for free...

its so tempting, maybe an electric cutout would help in the future?

the only reason to get the hiflow cats is to pass a visual inspection...flow better than regular cats, but not as good as strait pipe. if you go with hiflow cats I'd get the rear o2's deleted because it can still throw the (low catalyst) code.
magnaflow hiflow universal cats run $65 each through summit racing catalog

well im getting it tuned and a diablo programmer for it so does that solve my problem?
-

Eh, I dunno. I guess it would depend on your tuner. The Diablo won't help I don't think. I wouldn't waste money on it if your getting a tune anyway...

two tone yellow & white- 1987 Chevy S10
Vengeance Racing VRX2 cammed 2001 LS1 5.3L, blowing black smoke out of the tailpipes, plugs are clean. Wideband says the fuel is 13.5 - 14.2 at idle, yet the computer says it is lean and keeps adding fuel, long term fuel trim is 25%, short term is 3%. Idle is very up and down. Will not idle. Give it gas and it goes. Exhaust is Sanderson shorties, with no cats, Spintech XL mufflers, 2.5" exhaust pipes. Vehicle idles very high in drive, and while driving it runs fast while in drive. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks alot fellas!

How can you remove your o2 sensor? Ive never heard of just geting rid of the o2 sensors.

Only the rear o2s. They only thing they do is tell if the cats are doing there job. No cats = no rear o2s. Just gotta have the codes removed from the computer so you don't get a SES light and can pass inspection. (not visual or sniffer, only OBDII, but thats all they usually do unless they get a code)
