Ran the car at the track after Diablo tune
Best I could pull off was a 14.2 at 103.
.585 r/t
2.301 60'
Car is a 2000 Z-28 M6 with 90k miles and the following mods.....
Pacesetter LTs
Full exhaust
SLP Lid
FTRA
Pro 5
MSD Coils
MSD Wires
NGKTR 55 gapped at .055
Diablo performance tune with the following codes deleted as advised from "Stillremains" from this website
ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497286
Car runs and idles fine. I havn't run a compression check because my MPG is soo good. Flywheel chatters but the clutch grabs good. I pulled a 13.5 with my old 94 Z-28 LT1 with similar mods so it's not my driving. Sure, I might be able to clip off a 13 but I was expecting 12's...........
Injectors ? AF ratio ?
Any advice on what you can do with the diagnostics with the DiabloSport programmer that might narrow it down ?
14.2 from a major bolt ons LS1

your 60' is terrible...you should be able to click off 2.00's pretty easy right there is 6 tenths at the other end of the track...the 103 trap speed is off but who knows what was going on, spinning? bogging out of the whole who knows...did you try removing the diablo sport tune and try the stocker? The way the title of the thread is makes it sound like your blaming that...migth wanna try the stocker tune back to back to see whats really going on.

I'm going to get the injectors cleaned out and install a spec 2 clutch then try again with the stock tune. Considering HP tune to adjust the AF ratios. Might even run a compression check just to be sure.
I'm not blaming the programmer but unless something mechanically is wrong is has to be tuning. I just want some ideas how to work with the Diablo to help me find the problem. Otherwise I'm going with HP Tuner.
Although my 60 could be better I ran again'st a guy with a 2.202 60' and a .313 r/t and he ran a 13.513 at 104.17 so that makes me wonder.Last edited by TheBlur; 06-10-2006 at 12:56 PM.

Your 60' is pretty bad, but your trap speed is reallllly low. My TA trapped 107 stock and ran 13.4. You may need a tune up, cause you should be trapping at least 108+ Have you had it dynoed

I just changed the plugs/wires/coils/fuel filter about 5k miles ago.
I ran seafoam cleaner through the motor after I tuned it up. Maybe that fouled a plug ?
I havn't had it dynoed but after I play with it a little maybe that will be my next step.

Toss the diablosport in the trash and get a real tune, that will get you started.
Other than that it sounds like you need more seat time.

Others commented on you're 60-ft, but you didn't respond. I agree with them, it's horrible. What went wrong? How, and when are you launching? Running stock tires? If so, did you let a little air out of them before-hand?

spinning or not, your mph should be a lot higher, something is definitely wrong. That stock LT1 numbers you have there! Are you runing at a high altitude, or something? bad gas?

I'm gonna clean the injectors and replace my clutch then run again with the factory tuning. I'll post again after and I'll bring the programmer to the track and run it with the performance tune and see if anything happens.
Is there anyway to test to make sure I'm getting a good spark from each cylinder other than pulling the plugs out and running with them exposed so I can look at the tips ?

There is so little point in guessing with no data from
the car. You could at least hook up the Predator and
use it to watch real-time for knock, spark advance,
O2 voltages.
This is not a major-mods car; this is the beginning of
bolt-ons. Headers and lid. But you should do better
than you are. Still with a slightly heavier A4 stock I
trapped about the same with an '02 (maybe 20-30
alleged HP to the good, if you believe GM/SLP) and
a bit heavier (convertible) and cut a manly 2.1 60'.
You need tires.
People tell you to forget tuning software but this is
today's Vise-Grips. You can't understand the situation
without some logging tool (not a code reader and not
a real-time-only, 12-parameter GameBoy) and you
can't do squat about said situation without a real
editor/flash setup.
Checking plugs in open air is not an adequate test.
With 10:1 compression they have to fire with 10X
the voltage, minimum, that an open air gap poses.
That's a lot of room for a spark plug wire pinhole,
coil insulation fault, etc. to hide in.
At least hook up somebody's ATAP or EFILive or
HPTuners and scan the thing for the basics. You
can make a lot of motion and no result just doing
random things that occur to you or are suggested
off the Internet.

I'm going to run the HP tuner like suggested but another way I can tell the car is not running like it should is racing it. I race a friends 98 Cobra all the time and I used to be able to pull a few car lengths on him. Now it's dead even

i second the notion of tossing the diablo in the trash. i know several ls1 owners that have reported poor performance after putting in the diablo tune. get a real dyno tune, nothing can beat the performance of an experienced dyno tuner.

Sorry man, wish I could have warned you about the diablo sooner.
Have you done the port/polish yet?!

turns out it was the knock sensors and mild exhaust leaks lagging the car
Y pipe was banging again'st the tranny mount. Problem is corrected and DR's are on the way. Times and dyno results to be posted
