A question

Hi, I'm a noobie to the forums yayyy!

I have 95 Z28 and I put in a new steering column with a new key, does the key have to match the computer does anyone know for it to start? I bought the car as a write off and i'm in the process of fixing it up. It's never ran since i got it. I do get power for everything else but it won't turn over. Any ideas?

A shop or dealership should need to "rekey" it. I went through something like this with my grand am. because the key has a resistor on it, they need to do something with that.
