    p0405 code? Exhaust Gas Recirculation

Had exhaust put on two months ago and this code popped up recently.Took two fuses out and put back in and the code p0405 came up almost immediately. 1998 TA WS6 stock other than exhaust.Exhaust gas regulation circuit seems to be out of whack. Any suggestions? Guy at Autozone said to takt egr valve off and clean with carb cleaner, would still need new gasket if I did that wouldn't I. Thanks Guys and Gals for helping this newbie out.

It's a low volt error: usually it shows up when a cable is disconnected / broken.
It may be the connector (bent plugs?). If it's a broken wire inside of the valve you'll have to replace it.

Carb cleaner won't help if it's dirty: you'll have to scratch the black stuff out of it.

You don't need a new seal.

I had the same issue and I installed an new (used) valve. Zero problems since then.
