ordered a diablosport predator! worth it???

This is a discussion on ordered a diablosport predator! worth it??? within the Computer & Tuning forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; i got it for 250$ not 399.99 as advertised... it is the model that tunes a variety of gm vehicles ...

    ordered a diablosport predator! worth it???

    i got it for 250$ not 399.99 as advertised... it is the model that tunes a variety of gm vehicles and years... 250$ worth what you gain? and bein able to tune after all new mods?

    mods i have are.. borla, LT's, ORY, 85mm maf, slp flowpac, 160 thermo, ngk plugs, msd wires, eibach prokit w/ valved bilsteins, hotckis panhard bar

    best et... 13.06 at 108.8 (273 gears and street tires in A4)

    et is without box tune... i ordered it but it hasnt arrived yet

    I had a predator for my GTO and liked it. With the auto you'll definitely love the shifts. I can definitely tell it's not on the GTO anymore. With just the tune that came with it and not tweaking it I gained ~3 tenths using a g-tech. FWIW I sold mine used for $250 so they keep a good resale value. I think it's worth $250 and I also think you'll be happy with it unless/until you start doing major mods.

    i got mine for my gto friday and ive been playing with it constantly I love it, also being able to read pcm trouble codes and erase them and, to read real time data its a wonderful tool

    Since you have headers, ORY, and a Bigger MAF i would hope over to the Predator Message Bored and get ahold of MikeL. He can get you a custom Tune over the net to allow the tuner to work more effieicent with your Setup.

    maybe a dumb question but how does that actually work... do you download a new program tune that will work better than the one that comes with it?? explain if you can.

    Well i dont have mine working yet beucase i had to send it in to be updated but. From what i have read on the Predator Message board. you upload your stock tune to your computer and send it to them with your cars specs. Then they will send the tune back to you, you install it back onto the handheld and then flash it onto your car. its not as good as dyno tune but it will get your car alot closer to running to its full potential.

    just increase your shift percentages until it feels good to you. I think on the GTO I had mine around 15-20% if I remember correctly. Remove torque management and cut your shift times down. My fans with a 160 stat are 1st fan on at 182 off at 173 2nd fan on at 192 off at 183. You can raise your shif points a little bit but don't go real crazy here if you're still on the stock valvetrain. Basically, you'll need to do some reading and learn how to tune your fuel and spark. There are loads of info on doing that around the web.

    I picked one up on ebay for $155 shipped.

    My settings
    WOT +9% on both banks
    Spark Advanced 10% on both banks. (5% = 1 degree)
    Injector slope -9% (inverse relationship in the formula) - really means +. Although I a told it's only supposed to be for new injectors, if you hold the pulse open longer = more fuel. It also eliminated long term lean fuel trim which should be between +5% & -5% where -5% = running rich.


    Fan one off @165 on 175
    Fan two off 176 on @185

    Throttle is responsive and no lean codes - 23 MPG on the highway

    Yeah it is worth it! You'll love the difference it makes in your A4.
    They have a forum on there web site also or you can even talk to their tech people and they can email you a tune you can download.
    Have fun with it don't be scared to play around with it doing different mods to see what it changes.

    I bought mine in 2004 for $400 with 1 hour of dyno time (Fremont, CA). Johan helped in getting the base tune set up for my mods, before we hit the dyno. I did a base dyno before uploading the Johan base tune, then fine tuned afterwards. I gained 19hp and 15tq. It was definitely worth the $ and my time.

    where did you get all the info and know how to adjust the fuel and spark?

    Mine showed up today. I need to get a Cable and a power source so i can record data and tune better, but the perfromance tune seemed to help a decent amount so far.
