    Noob tuning question

I have been reading for a while now and I keep hearing of people needing or going to get a "tune". Do you need a custom ECM for this or is it all done with software at a tuning shop? I was considering a Diablo because my car is basically stock but didn't know if it was a waste of money.

The ECU's in our cars are fully programmable, so there is no need to upgrade the computer with an aftermarket one. All you need is tuning software such as HP Tuners or EFI Live and you can even tune it yourself using the Data Logging feature.

You could also take it to a performance shop that tunes F-bodies and have them dyno tune it for you, but you probably won't see much benefit from it considering you said your car is mostly stock.
