    Cool New setup which tune?

OK I have a 98' A4 and I just got through with refreshing my motor I have a 224/228 112 lsa comp cam, comp pro mag rockers, titanium retainers, hardened pushrods, comp pro lifters, beehive springs, fast 92, flp lt's, haven't purchased the tb yet, ARP head & rod bolts, ported oil pump, comp adjustable timing chain and all new bearings, 3400 stall, shift kit and my engine builder told me that comp will tune my computer for that setup for $350 and I was just wondering if this would do me justice or if it would be better to do a dyno tune? I want my new rings to seat properly so if I run it on a dyno without a tune will this end up giving me blow by later on? Also with this cam should I run it straight up or degree it? I have emissions and want to make sure I don't have any problems with that either.....any help or advise on my setup would be greatly appreciated...looking to get on the road soon! Also I my stock 806 heads are being ported he said he will give me my flow numbers and see if i want to go further with them after the port job.

That cam will be straight up. You would have room to degree it if you wanted... I've done mail order tunes myself, but it's better to tune it in the car with a wideband...
Are you going with the 1.85 rockers ?

he said I have the option of going with the 1.8's but he was leaning towards the 1.7's I was personally leaning for the 1.8's to get some more lift but he said it will be a real solid setup with the 1.7's

You can sneak them in later !!! If you have someone local to tune in the cam, I'd go that route... If they dyno it, they don't have to rev it that high for a breakin tune.

If you didn't buy the cam yet, I'd go larger. I assume you chose the XR277HR ( 54-418-11 ) but, you might want to upgrade to at least the XR281HR ( 54-428-11 ) cam.
That's what I've been using for 3 years now with the 1.85 rockers. Love it !!!
That was with the stock motor & ported heads. ( may it rest in peace )
Now that I'm 14:1 CR, Same cam, I'm upgrading to the XER287HR cam.

I also used a 150 dry shot. High 10's in the 1/4 mile...
    The best on the stock motor was a 10.72 / 1.36 60'
The 4600 stall helped a little too !!! It would run 11.40's on motor.

I think it might allready be ordered....I plan on putting a hit of nitrous on it though...what happened to you motor? I should get better reliability with less lift correct?

Well, I sprayed mine for 4 years drag racing. A rod bolt finally let go, but after I won the race & was idling back to the pits !!! Still rebuildable ! I already had a motor being built at the time. Can't complane, That motor lasted longer than I ever expected !!!
I'm ready to start buying parts to start rebuilding it now. Maybe low compression, twin turbos !!!
