    Loss of communication (HP Tuners)

Greg and I were logging his 99 ss with hp tuners scanner when we received a loss of communication and were disconnected. At the same time he lost his Tac, Fuel, and coolant temp. gages. We were unable to reconnect. We also tried to connect the LM-2 with no luck. The car runs great but the three gages I listed do not work and we are unable to reconnect with HP Tuners. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Fuse issue? Have you searched on the HP Tuners forum?

Fuse is fine. The only thing that I could find On the Hp forum was that the PCM could be fried. Not sure how that could happen when all we were doing is scanning (Logging).

The main fuse for the obd is the cigarette lighter fuse. I'd try unhooking the battery & re-seating the two main plug connectors on the ecm...

Found the problem. We pulled the PCM out and found that Pinout #57(Battery Positive Voltage) is corroded off. My question now is, could we just pull the female plug out of the plug and move it to the pinout that is under the one that just broke off. It would be #20 pinout and from what I found it is the same as #57, being it is for battery positive voltage.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Nope that won't work. You need to replace the PCM

We ended up ordering a new PCM from Frost. He is setting it up so we won't have to buy more credits to tune the new PCM with HP Tuners.

glad you got it figured out and a fix on order. It never ceases to amaze me the odd ball things you can run into when doing this stuff. I mean what are the odds that a pin on the pcm corroded?

I'm not to fond of the location of the PCM's on the F-Body... It has to get wet...

I shouldn't have to. This is because the file that is in the PCM is the stock file that I sent to frost and he uploaded into it. Or do you think that file may have a bug. I don't think it should, the car ran fine.

I'd think that Frost will give you some tweaks !!! Do a full read and save it, just in case.
