KR in Third gear only at Englishtown

I made 4 runs at Englishtown at the recent SLP day.

    Dont ask.........LOL I had other issues............LOL

I logged my runs with HP TUNERS and in my best run I got some serious KR in 3rd gear only. All the other runs did not show any KR in any gear.

The KR was anywhere from .01 to 4.

Any one have any idea why it would only show up in 3rd gear only???

I posted this on HP TUNERS Forum and have recieved one theory so far:

Quoted from EC TUNE at HP TUNERS FORUM

"Load applied for a longer period of time (3rd gear for example) will increase cylinder temps more than 1st & 2nd gear, possibly causing the KR you are seeing."

Any other ideas, theories or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Have funn

I always seem to get KR on my 1 - 2 shifts... No matter if I'm running 23* - 28* timing.
Mine is only around .5 , so I always assumed it was drive train noise...
What timing are you running WOT ?

The timing is stock at the moment. I get the KR through out 3rd gear, every frame except for the first couple and the last couple show KR.

    Thanks for the help.

Doug (EC_Tune) is definitely correct! In aftermarket EMS's (and some non-ls1 OEM applications) spark can be pulled against time or gear, but not for us without trickery. If you are running a turbo and big boost, it could be useful. If you are N/A, then your timing is simply too high. If you are that close to knock in lower gears, your overall WOT timing is a bit too high. Pull 1-2 degrees, rinse and repeat if needed
