is a Hypertech Programmer 3 really year specific

I got one for sale and want to be able to tell people what it will work on. Its for a 99 Camaro/Firebird. Will it work on any 98-02 LS1 car ? My car is down at the moment so I didnt get a chance to hook it up to my 01 SS and find out.

The Hypertech Programmers are Vin# locked. They will not recognize any other Vin# until the original stock tune is reloaded into the unit. Hypertech Will Not reload the stock tune.

Keep this in mind.

Some of the older one like the one I'm selling for a friend are year-specific, some of the newer units are not. What does the box it came in say?

The old unit I had was year specific also. I plugged product number 30025 into hypertech.com and got a complete application listing for it. For the F-body looks like 99-02.
