well, it doesn't have to be a paper weight. Make one of these out of it.

doesn't look too hard... Just take off the pan, bolt 4 rods with pistons to the block in the corners (or 1 in from the corner since there's those little alignment dowels), maybe put some felt on the pistons so the glass isn't directly on the metal, and make sure you send the parts out to get hot tanked and cleaned!!!

looks to me like they put suction cups on top of the pistons to hold the glass down. I bet you could build that and sell it for far more than you'd normally get for a busted block.

Ya crash explained it to me,,,,apparently there are quite a few cars running around with a hood that leaks rain water
Thats a problem I've really never experienced with any car so when you said originally that water was getting in there I immediately thought you meant engine coolant. Thats what had me puzzled since it's a dry intake and there are no coolant line up that high.

Yep you were. I had forgotten many of the things and tips you said. Had to go and read and compare. Im slowly learning. Hptunersforum will talk you in circles. Just been reading that forum and going back and forth between scanner and editor.

Tuning hasnt really started, I need to install my LC-1 wideband. I want someones opinion on the best place to put it. Basically how far down in the intermeidate pipe from the headers to weld bung? Starting to hear bad things from HPtunerforum about the LC-1. Trying to at least get the car running decent after cam install. I have the next 2 weeks off from work. Tools for compression the springs and keeping valves up will be here today hopefully.

It would be best to weld the bung as close to the header collector as possible. On some of the older cars I have I actually weld the bung right onto the header collector. On the 4th gens it was just too tight there so I welded it in the Y-pipe about 12 inches back just before it makes the bend on the driver side.

Alright, I will weld it as close to the merge as possible. I only have one sensor.

Anyone here have experiance with heat killing these LC-1 sensors?

Also, this sounds stupid... But the short block is an LQ4 6.0 liter.

Shouldnt I have it set to 6.0 and not 5.7?

One sensor is fine, you could actually weld a bung on the other side if you want to move it side to side and see any variances,,,or spend the money for the double sensor setup. I've only done that on a carbed car where I can stagger jet it,,,not sure how you could go about that on a fuelie motor.

I've never heard of heat killing them. Although I use the LM-1 which I remove after I'm done tuning.
With all this LC1 talk and leaving a sensor perminently in the exhaust I have to wonder though,,,,,do you have to wait for the sensor to heat up every time you start the car????
I know on the LM1 you do,,,otherwise you kill the sensor that way.

Would be a pain in the ass to have a perminent sensor and have to wait every time you start it.

you dont have to leave it in the car do you? I ordered one from jegs today. I was thinking you could just tune the car and put a plug in when your done.

I run the LM-1 in my car currently and it's been in there for over a year....so it's been semi-permanent. Never had any problems out of it. Did kill 1 sensor but that was my own fault and I killed it with condensation. I was using a sniffer pipe for it at the time and had ran it a couple of minutes and shut the car off and let it cool down. Went out a few hours later and started it up and condensation filled the sniffer tube up and killed the sensor. No problems since then. Most of the problems you see with the LC-1 are grounding issues so make sure you follow the instructions and ground it properly. In the price range the LC-1 is in you're going to find most WB's have issues.
I would mount your sensor about 12" back from your front sensor in one side of the Y.
I've never let my sensor heat up before I start the car. I do let it heat up before I start any logging though.

In ONE side of the y? I thought I would put it in the intermediate pipe ie, were they merge together?

thats what i thought also, but everyone i talked to said they normally put it on the driverside right after the header (with-in 12 inches)
