Getting the SS tuned tonight. What to expect?
Having the SS tuned tonight. What should I expect to see them "do" to the car? What does a tune consist of?

a questioneer, a few dyno pulls, give you the keys back along with a dynosheet showing before/after results then to ask for your payment...thats what you should expect in most cases. Anything over and above from most pro tuners is a good thing.

it should change the air fuel ratios resulting in more HP and if you have an auto expect them to change your shift points

They are going to set fans temp, delete codes that you have, change gear ratio, delete cags, egr, air pump, o2 sensors. Play with air/fuel ratio. That is pretty much the highlights. A lot depends on what you have done to the car. Raise rev limiter, and shift points if its an auto.

Don't worry about them changing the shift points then.

Since I tune on the side the way I do it is
Have my customer fill out a detailed questioneer about their mods/car/info
Look over their car to make sure everything is in order
Hook up my scanner & scan for codes & d/l what codes are being thrown
Put the car on ramps to install my w/b o2 sensor
D/L the tune currently in the car(hopefully the stock one)
Modify that tune to throw it into speed density mode to tune the Ve table(fairly long process to go into so you might wanna search VE tuning)
Do a few before runs through 3rd gear for a good baseline.
Then start the VE tuning process which usually takes 1-2 hrs of logging & modifying the tune.
Once thats done I'll plug the maf back in and scale the maf to work with the newly reformed VE table.
Once my final fueling is worked out I'll go ahead and adjust timing & or shift points if necessary which in your case isnt.
Once Im happy with the ve, maf, spark, shift points, idle, part throttle I'll make a few after passes in 3rd gear & compare the timestamps on both from xxmph to xxmph and hopefully see a difference in my favor.
Thats about the time where Im done & will graciously ask for my $ lol
hopefully thats detailed enough, but again different strokes for different folks so you also might ask them since there are too many ways to tune a car.

When I had mine Dyno tuned by GMMG they did all of that but did all the dyno pulls in 4th gear since that is the 1 to 1 gear ratio. Took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the total process.

I only gained 3 hp and 10 ft lbs of tq. But it carries it sooner and longer acrosse the board. Made a huge difference. Main thing on my car is it straightened out the codes and air/fuel ratio. I did cam, headers, ory pipe, and gears all right about the same time. My car didn't know what was going one when all that happened. Shes runnin great now.
